And no – we aren’t talking about me 😂 So I have had a few requests to add more posts about the food in Thailand…happy to share! What you are seeing in the feature picture is a very special soup – this isn’t just any old soup (well I guess in a way it is), you see – this soup is about 50 years. Based on a recommendation from my friend Anne (and the random foodie tourist from Vietnam that I had a lovely conversation with at the Paragon Mall food court), I travelled to the restaurant Wattana Panich to try their infamous beef noodle soup.
This beef noodle soup has been continuously cooking for 50 years, using the remaining broth of the day’s soup to make the broth for the next day…it is the sourdough of soup! And very yummy! The flavours were incredible!
So this food post is really one of contrasting items – the first being traditional, local, Eastern and the next one modern, Western and a bit exotic…a slice of carrot cake. Perhaps the most beautiful carrot cake I’ve ever eaten – complete with edible flowers. The restaurant – Wallflowers Cafe which is in the heart of Chinatown. It is truly an oasis of calm in a chaotic part of the city (thanks Derek for the tip!).
Here are a few pictures of the restaurant, because the venue is just as notable as its desserts!!

The 50-year-old-soup 🥣 puts a whole new meaning on leftovers!
