So I’m going to strongly disagree with TLC – you SHOULD go chasing waterfalls. DO NOT stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to…otherwise you would never discover these beauties. While I was in Chanthaburi, I went to Namtok Phlio National Park for the afternoon, which was only 10km outside of town, nestled in the mountains that I could see from my balcony. Definitely the highlight of my time in Chanthaburi!
The Hike
I ventured off into the jungle for a lovely (and moderately strenuous) 1.2km hike – which promised to give me amazing views of the waterfall (and it did). I carefully scanned every step I took to ensure that I did not step on any snakes (because next to my fear of heights, snakes would be a close second). I was treated to views of lovely wading pools, lush jungle, interesting rock formations. But little did I know that had I simple walked up the hill another 50 yards, I would have arrived at the waterfall without the long hike 😂 but it was totally worth the effort and anxiety of dodging snakes (snake count on hike = zero).
Another benefit of the hike was having these local Puang fish nibble at my feet. They were in need of lunch and I was in need of a pedicure and voila…an instant symbiotic relationship!

Namtok Phlio Waterfall
So words cannot express how much I loved this waterfall – the sound of water rushing down the rocks, the colour of the water pooling below and just the feeling of being surrounded by nature. So instead of me blabbing on about it – I’ll let the pictures and the video do the talking.

Stunning! Thanks for posting videos. Make sure you go get one of those fish pedicures!
I’ll make sure to post more videos!
Cypress and River would love to see all the fish swimming near the beautiful waterfall!
