After 4 fantastic weeks in Bangkok…it is time to move onto my next location…Pattaya. But before I say “goodbye” to Bangkok, in this blog I’ll share some pictures and stories of the other experiences I had in Bangkok, which didn’t make any of the earlier posts.
Fortunately for me, the saying “It’s Like Riding a Bike” is true…having not ridden a bike since 2012 (down Haleakala in Maui – which admittedly requires very little pedalling), I decided to take a 5 hour biking and canal tour through the Bangkok. The tour came highly recommended by a number of people I had met and it didn’t disappoint. No pictures from the tour (I was focused on being safe and at one point not falling off a raised platform which was only 1m wide with water on both sides and no railing 😳 ), but it was a unique view into the lives of locals as we drove along back alleyways, through side streets and backyards.
The Mahanakhon Sky Walk

Incredible to take in this view of Bangkok (which truly goes on forever) from a top of the highest building in the city (314m). Despite being afraid of heights, I did walk on the glass floor – but stuck to the sides (like really…as if that makes a difference if the floor broke).
Chinatown’s Wat Traimit & The Golden Buddha
The Golden Buddha housed in Wat Traimit is made of solid 18 karat gold – which is a rarity. Most Buddhas are just wrapped in gold leaf. Weighing in at 5.5 tons and over 16m tall, this Buddha holds the record as the most valuable gold statue in the world.
Golden Mount Temple

Thanks for catching us up on your adventures! I wonder where you get your fear of heights?
The 🍎 doesn’t fall far from the 🌲
From your last post, that big ole golden Buddha is a Thursday Buddha! (same as me!)
