Finding Routine…In the Non-Routine

Lumphini Park

I’m now a week and a half into my time in Bangkok and I have settled into a nice level of familiarity (and dare I say routine) amidst my new surroundings. I live a short walk from Lumphini Park, which is like Bangkok’s version of New York’s Central Park and makes for a great way to spend a few hours people watching. Late afternoon the locals take over a section of the park and do aerobics – eventually I will need to join in on the fun. My morning routine involves picking up fresh fruit and breakfast at the local 7 eleven (they are on EVERY street corner), grabbing my coffee from my local coffee shop and exchanging morning pleasantries with the elderly gentlemen who seems to run on a similar schedule as mine. I have even become mildly savvy travelling on the local subway and light rail system with my transit pass in hand. I typically have 1 (max 2) sightseeing things that I’ll do a day – taking my time and enjoying the sights and sounds as I go. The other fun pastime is checking out Bangkok Malls. This city knows how to do malls – super high end, beautiful architecture, incredible food courts – these malls are massive!!! And importantly they are air conditioned – so a mall is always a welcomed escape from the heat and humidity outside – haha.

So over the course of the last 10 days or so, in addition to some of the sights I’ve already shared – I’m including some random pics from other adventures around the city.
