Wat’s Up?!?!

Ok, so I couldn’t resist the headline phrase 😂 For those of you new to Asian travel – a Wat is a type of Buddhist temple…and Bangkok has some very famous ones. On Wednesday (after a week of being in the city) I took to the streets of the old city and finally got to take a closer look at some of the most noteworthy Wat’s in town. The first temple is Wat Arun (named for the Indian goddess of dawn) and the second Wat Pho.

Wat Pho is know for it’s incredibly large (and I mean half a football field long) reclining Buddha. It is the feature picture on this blog – and is absolutely stunning…covered in gold leaf. Wat Pho is also famous for its massage school – I didn’t end up having a massage at Wa Pho (despite numerous recommendations), because as it turns out the building that I am staying at has an incredible massage facility on the ground floor. Earlier this week I had my first hour long massage for $13Cdn (including tip) – I might be spending a bit more time on the ground floor of my building in the coming weeks – haha.

Here are a few more photos from my visit to these two sites!!
